Postmaster Bios

James Richmond
b- 1871 in Glasgow, Scotland
d- Nov 23, 1927 in Terrace, age 56
buried in Kitsumkalum Cemetery, Terrace
came to Canada in 1911
married Christiana McLeod
b- Sutherlandshire, Scotland
d-
daughter Eric Richmond
wife and daughter immigrated after James
1922 they moved to Terrace
bought the old cooperative business there,
operated a grocery and butcher business in Terrace.

William Patrick Lynch
b- Apr 1864 in NB? (see discrepancy below, born in Hamilton ON?)
d- Nov 12, 1941 in New Westminster BC
married Rosa nee ?
b- Mar 1865 in Germany
son- William "Bill" Lynch (this may or may not be true, due to discrepancy below)
He was part of the Lynch Brothers
They operated a Grocery, Feed and Hardware Store on Pugsley st.
Post Office was in their store.
Dec 1914 the family left to Oakland CA, for the winter.
I imagine I read this in an old newspaper, so assume still correct.
1911- William owns a retail Dept. Store in Prince Rupert, lives on 1st ave.
1921- I show a William P. Lynch, in Port Clements,
Shown as a sawmill manager there, age 54 b- in NB?.

Now here we have a discrepancy, as Greg Lynch
Tells me William Patrick's father was John Lynch and mother Mary.
He also says William was born in Hamilton ON, per death cert.
He says William was a member of the RCMP when he died.
His NWMP file says he was born in Hamilton, father John

son of Patrick Lynch, b- Ireland, age 52 in 1881,
and Ellen nee?, b- NB, age 41
brother- Thomas Lynch, b- in NB, age 22 in 1881
brother- Terance Lynch, b- in NB, age 1 in 1881
all in Northumberland NB in 1881
all of above could be wrong now for father and siblings.
Per email and info from Greg Lynch, Apr 9, 2015,
he was the brother of John Myron Lynch,
b- 1866
  d- Mar 10, 1916 in Hazelton BC, age 50
buried in Fairview Cemetery, Prince Rupert BC
John was a prospector in the Yukon in 1901.
In his Will John was a Merchant in Smithers,
and brother William, was his Executor.
John's wife in the will shown as Mary E. Lynch.

William Jordan Larkworthy

daughter of William Martin, b- Newfoundland

He also had a store in Hazelton
Larkworthy St, in New Hazelton named after him
Larkworthy Creek BC named after him
1891 he was in Stratford, father a retail Butcher.

1905 he was a Telegraph Lineman in Hazelton
1906 shown as an accountant, returning from Hong Kong.

2 robbers shot and killed 50 ft from the bank, see article below
they took $1100.  Leader was a Russian known in Hazelton.
Mr. Gaslin, manager for Lynch Brothers Store was in the Bank.
He was depositing Post Office Money at the time.
