Served in the Civil War, then entered
Railway Business in 1868
He worked first for the Wabash Railway.
In 1885 he went to the Missouri Pacific
Railway,
working
in the Purchasing Department.
2 years later, ca 1887, he was made Private
Secretary
of the General Manager of the Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville
Railroad.
Spent last 16 years of his career with the
Grand Trunk Railroad.
May 1896- Appointed General Purchasing
Agent
of the Grand Trunk Railroad.
General Purchasing Agent for Grand Trunk
Pacific Railway
when Prince Rupert was made the terminus of that line.
He was sick for 2 years prior to his death,
from an unknown illness.
He lived in Montreal and St. Louis.
His headquarters were in Canada.

living at 5530 Delmar, St. Louis, MO, USA
May 1892- He was a manager for Ezra Linsley,
St. Louis.
He then opened an office in the Bank of Commerce building
and set up a brokerage business there.
Adolph Butze retired from the Grand Trunk, Jan 1, 1912
Butze Rapids near Prince Rupert, named after this man.
Butze Alberta, a station on the GTPR, also
named after him.
Located 30 km NE of Provost, established in 1910
His father:
ca 1902- L. F. W. Butze had a small store in Quincy Illinois
He was the brother-in-law of Paul Konantz
Ludwig Wilhelm Franz Butze came to US in 1837 to Illinois.
He attended the funeral of
Edwin G. Russell
in 1907
