In the 1950s he concentrated on Structural
Geology-
the structural controls of mineral deposits
in the 1950's his work divided the Canadian
Shield into
3 provinces, Superior, Churchill, and Grenville.
It was later considered to be divided into 5 Provinces.

named in his honour.
Dr. Stockwell was also an explorer.
In July/August 1932, he canoed through
the unexplored region north of Great Slave Lake.
