Robert was born in Estevan SK
Attended schools in Estevan,
also 2 years at Queens University.

Went overseas Aug 1941
He got to visit the Palace in England, on his arrival,
and meet Princess Elizabeth, and Margaret Rose.
his father was John Mitchell and mother Jessie Mitchell, nee Laird
so don't think he is related to this John Mitchell.

In 1934 a John Mitchell won the Prairie Nurseries Award of $5.00
worth of trees and shrubs, for the best garden in Estevan,
combining Shrubs, Trees, Flowers and Vegetables.

In 1939 a John Mitchell won this trophy again,
at his residence on 1st St.

June 7, 1926, a John Mitchell was elected
 Vice Grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Estevan.

married to Martha Plaice, which I believe is the correct owner here.

1911 family above living in Company House no 12, at Taylorton,
John was a Weighman at the coalmine there.

Nov 9, 1940, Joseph Stepanski,
President of the recently organized Miner's Union,
was severely crushed, and received broken ribs,
He was pushing cars to the hoist,
he was caught between 2 cars
when the signal to hoist wasn't given.
He was taken to the Bienfait Hospital
this accident happened at Western Dominion Mines
