In the spring of 1977
our Union became the
TWU
(Telecommunications Workers Union)

Members of Local 33 in the early years had to
attend Union meetings in Prince George
(no doubt Local 9 ?)
Due to our numbers increasing and
distance to travel, Local 33 was created.

Over the years we had been a fairly militant Local

We have gone thru 3 strikes in our Local
-Summer of 1969
  -Winter of 1977-78
                         -Late winter/Early Spring- 1980-81
All of these strikes were hard fought.
 

The Local went through many years
before one of our Local members retired
while still working in the Local.
Wilf Hoffman was the first in our Local.
Over the last few years we have seen many more.

Starting July 21, 2005 a Telus Lockout.
ended in Nov/Dec

Dec 2014- The TWU merged with the International Steel Workers Union.
