HEAVY ROUTE
MICROWAVE SYSTEM
CHAPTER #6

Zymoetz Living Quarters
Apr 1970

The TV in this picture is just for show,
trust me we never did get this thing to work.
Channel 3, CFTK picture was mostly snow and noise.
It provided another noise from the sound of silence!

Being single at the time, one would purchase the odd copy of Playboy magazine for the articles of course.  The centerfold would mysteriously get taken out and stapled to the wall of the kitchen.  When I left the radio crew in 1982, the walls were wallpapered with many scantily clad ladies.  Today it is politically not correct to do this, and all were removed in the mid 80’s.

Since none of the radio sites were supposed to have “any” alcohol at them, this policy was strictly enforced!  Only problem, our definition of “ANY” was different than the company’s official version.

At Zymoetz we got inventive, and removed the duct work above the kitchen sink, (see picture above, it is just visible) and installed hinges on it, and under the vent we stashed our supply of bottled Perrier water!  Hey you couldn’t drink the water from the cistern off the roof, so we were actually saving our health, by using the whiskey only for medicinal purposes!
We partied hard on the crew, but we worked hard also.  Wonder if there is still a bottle in there?    Stuck on a hill for days, tension had to be released somehow!
