THE RED ENSIGN
THEY FOUGHT UNDER THIS FLAG

For God and Country

These Gave Their Lives
LEST WE FORGET

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

I dedicate this page

Previous service- 20th Border Horse, Rank Lieutenant, 5 years
Son of George Bernard Rooks
and Millistone Louise Rooks, nee Reeves, of Estevan, SK.
Manitoba vital records state Millstome as her first name.
Millistone Louise Reeves, his mother, was born Jan 4, 1869, in England,
d- Feb 21, 1945,
buried in Estevan City Cemetery.
She immigrated in 1882, arriving in Winnipeg June 10, 1882
George Rooks, his father, was born Feb 15 (14?), 1853 (1855?) in Arkona, Ontario,

German Nationality, Presbyterian religion in 1901 census
George was one of the founding pioneers of Estevan,
a stone mason by trade,
who owned a Jewellery store and Watch repair shop,
setting this up for his son Lester.
He immigrated to Winnipeg, Man. in 1870.
Moved to Melita,
1891 census living in sub district Inchiquin, Selkirk district, MB
then to Estevan in 1892.

note- His sister was born Mar 1890, per vital stats records,
Attestation form says born 1890.
so the year for Lester I think is wrong.
Strange Thomas Herbert is not shown in family history
but birth date matches Lester George?
but Lester was not shown in Vital records?
Somehow his name changed, and his birth year!
